This Week in Geekdom: Mythical worlds come to life
Bright Teaser
This week has been a really impactful for lots of different trailers and we have a different one to kick it off. From the Director of Suicide Squad, David Ayer, and star of everyone’s heart Will Smith. We get a dark cop drama set in a fantastical mythic world. It will be airing on Netflix later in the year and it looks like it will be something special. Ayer has shown in previous films that he has a passion for the gritty drama stories and this seems to get away from the over the top level that was present in Suicide Squad. Check out the trailer below.
Middle Earth: Shadow of War
As someone that doesn’t play a lot of video games, it is not often that one of them captures my attention and makes me want to play one. This one, however, is the continuation after Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and it seems to be an amazing sequel. The graphics look amazing and the story really captures my attention as a Lord of the Rings fan it just left me with my mouth on the floor. There was a Balrog fighting along side with orcs and demons and other creatures and I was just amazed! It almost feels as epic as the actual movies and I might try to get my hands on a copy of it. Check out the trailer below.

In the upcoming hype for the new Alien: Covenant, we have these awesome mugs with an Alien/Polynesian Art style. Sometimes geek related items are very simple or cheesy but these are borderline art. Thanks to the folks at Mondo who are making these, they have a cool style and awesome colors that really make them cool.

Is there a Green Lantern in Justice League?
This is complete speculation and it is interesting because there are some key things that make it seem we actually may be seeing a member of the Green Lantern Corps on screen this November.
- Henry Cavill’s Instagram
https://www.instagram.com/p/BREtRTLFEzl/
- Umberto Gonzalez on Periscope
- UPDATE: Unfortunatly, the video was removed but he mentions that he knew of the existence of a Green Lantern in the film and most likely was an alien with some funny name.
These 2 are the main speculation as well as some set visits saying there was concept art of GL but nothing has been confirmed. Take you want from this but it would be interesting how this will end up.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Trailer #3
This hopefully is the final trailer for the movie and it really speaks for itself. We get a really good understanding of the team dynamic and everyone seems to work together so well. The music as expected is on point and to see Kurt Russell finally show up was very exciting. It seems like its just going to be a lot of fun, with bright colors and lots of emotions and I can’t wait to get into it.
Deadpool 2 Teaser
When I went to go see Logan in the theaters on Saturday morning, this was the treasure I had as the film opened. As I got home it was released online and I watched it 5 more times because it is hilarious. The fact that they have the actual John Williams theme for Superman, the first real Stan Lee cameo in a Marvel property and just all the fun in-jokes are great. While I don’t think he would have let this man die for no reason, he dealt with it with full comedic value and the tone feels just about right so looking forward to this movie, whenever it does come out.
