This Week in Geekdom: Comics come to life
DC Comics/ Looney Toons Crossover
If you are a fan of comics then you know that the crossovers are the stuff of legends. From Marvel, DC and many other properties, the crossover features all of your favorite characters and usually features and an amazing villain with a fun story and the tradition continues. Now the latest craze of crossovers brings together the DC Comics Universe with the Hanna-Barabara Looney Toons. Some of the match-ups that you can expect this summer are Elmer Fudd vs. Batman, the Tasmanian Devil vs. Wonder Woman, Yosemite Sam vs. Jonah Hex, Wild E Coyote vs. Lobo, Marvin the Martian vs. Martian Manhunter and Bugs Bunny vs. The Legion of Superheroes. Definitely looking forward to both Martians coming head to head and looking to see how these characters will interact.
Check them out in comic stores in June and July.

As we all know, you have to support diversity in TV shows, especially when they are your own race. Above is Rahul Kohli who has nestled himself into my heart from his role on IZombie. He brought a smart capable Indian to the screen and showed that he was more than a doctor. Now he is making the transition to Supergirl in the role of a villain and I am very excited to see him in the show. He will be appearing in episode 18 on April 3rd titled ‘Ace Reporter’ and I’ll be giddy with joy for those 40 minutes.

If you have been following the Marvel movies for the last little bit, you may have heard of The Inhumans as a movie that was eventually going to happen. This was the case until earlier this year when they were given a TV show filmed entirely in IMAX. Marvel has been working on developing their TV lineup for the past few years and it has had its ups and downs. Fall of 2017 seems to be looking like a high with this new Inhumans show. The thing that makes this newsworthy for me is the inclusion of Lockjaw. Lockjaw is a 8 ft teleporting dog that most logical people would probably side step for a TV show. As you can see from the pictures above, there is a 8 ft giant dog and that makes me excited. In comics, readers can accept more because it is so fictional but on screen it is different. It is good that the creators found a way to merge the fictional with the more realistic and hopefully this show will be good.
Wonder Woman Metal Theme
While Batman v Superman had its good parts and bad, the most exciting part was definitely the fact that a superhero character had theme music. Wonder Woman shined in the film and it was accented by the most badass electric cello piece you have ever heard. Now we all know that rift now and as much as I think I can sing it, my voice doesn’t do it justice. Musician Tina Guo is back in the Wonder Woman park in time for the new movie and it is rumored that she is working some parts of the score adaptations of the theme for the new movie. Check out her badass theme with her playing it below. She also performs a metal version of the theme in the second clip so check that out also.

Thor Ragnarok: First Images
Images courtesy of Entertainment Weekly
First of all, if you want to back and look at those images again, I’ll be here waiting. If you are back now you can look at the full batch of images on Entertainment Weekly here. Hopefully, we are all done geeking out about that but I’m really not but we can keep going now. This movie looks so sweet! From the vibrant colors to Thor’s new look, everything looks to truly showcase this movie. All of this is coming from the mind of Taika Waititi, the director and it just showcases the science fiction nature that Thor should. While in the previous two movies it has been mostly Earth focused, it seems we will be switching that for this one. All of the cool sci-fi from Guardians seems to be seeping in and it promises to be a wild ride through the universe that I can’t wait to see.
