“Taboo” Pilot Review with Yerro

Big ups to Yerro Gassama for hanging out and doing this pilot review of the first 2 episodes for FX new show Taboo

YERRO: 4.5🌟🌟🌟🌟/5
SUNEEL: 4🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

Starring Tom Hardy this show is set in the early 1800’s and focuses on England and the East India Trading Company as they are trying to grow their control over the Americas. One of our favorite part of the show is the tone which is dirty but clean and you really get a sense of the world. At some point, you are in a mud shack full of dirt and others you are in the King of England’s home with his zebra. It travels between all of the locations with ease and takes you on this amazing journey. We really both loved the strange characters we met including the man with a compass tattoo on his head.
The music was also a big mix of classical music with tribal music and what seems to be modern day orchestral styling and uses it to create a unique vision of Britain at the time. Another great part of the story is how unexpected the characters are. Everyone is always out for themselves but sometimes they care about their larger goals or even for the country. The actions come out of necessity or survival and it shocks and awes at every turn. TBH Yerro and I spent the entire credits just yelling at the screen because of the end of episode 2 because of how it just blew our minds about what happened.
